Hilary Comes to town 2!

The second day Hil was here we went to the Hoover Dam and took a tour. It was very interesting and we had a good time learning how it was built. We also stood in two different states (Arizona and Nevada) in a matter of seconds. We took pictures to prove it with the clocks in the background but while staring up at the camera the sun was so bright our eyes hurt. So don't worry we weren't crying. Thanks for the visit little Hil!

Hilary Comes to Town!

My good friend and college roommate came to visit me the weekend before Thanksgiving. The day she came in we went to the M&M and Coke factories, drove up and down the strip to see how it had changed, and went shopping at the outlets.

Mark's Birthday and Halloween

Frankfurt

We flew into Frankfurt, Germany where the Brown Family lived from 1984-1986. We tried to find our old living quarters but ended up wandering around in the general area but never finding it. However, we did find the hospital where the famous Jimmy Brown was born. We also went to the chapel we attended while in Frankfurt. The next day we took the train to Paris. Our last day was also spent in Frankfurt. We went downtown to do some shopping (bought our cucko clock) and eat some wienersnitzel in the old town square.

Paris II

Paris I

We had a great time in Paris but it was a little of a challenge to get everything in. There is so much to see but we felt like we all saw what we really wanted. The first day we went to the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and a boat ride down the Siene. The second day we went to the Arc de Triomphe, Musee D'Orsay, and Notre Dame before just barely making our train on the way to Genoa, Italy.

You know You are Bad Blogger If...

1. You are on the bottom of everyone's updated list

2. "More to come"... means two months later

3. Holidays come and go with no picture updates

Yeah, I unfortunately meet all of the qualifications.

More to come....

I still have to post our first two destinations but it is getting late and it takes so long to upload photos.

Home of Columbus - Genoa, Italy

We went to Genoa mostly because my Mom has an ancestor from there. It actually turned out to be a very nice stop after Paris because we were all pretty tired. Genoa isn't quite so touristy as our other destinations so we went to the Genoa Aquarium, had lunch and dinner down on the Pier, and just walked around the city. We probably had the best pizza of the trip in Genoa and if you ever go to Italy pepperoni is a vegetable so if you "American pepperoni" ask for salami on your pizza instead.

Pisa, Pisa, and more Pisa

We stopped for one day and one night in Pisa, Italy. Our hotel was literally a stones throw from the Leaning Tower and the rest of the "Square of Miracles." We went all the way to the top of the Leaning Tower and it was a bit akward walking up it in parts because of it being so well, leaning. One moment I was walking up and the next I felt like I was walking down even though I was still continuing up. We also did a little other sightseeing in Pisa and enjoyed some gelatto and spaghetti.

Vatican City

The second day we went to the Vatican and took an awesome tour of the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, and St. Peter's square. We all really enjoyed the tour because otherwise we would not have known what we were looking at.

When in Rome...

We got as much as we could into two days of Rome. The first day we spent going to the Colessum, the Constantine Arch, the Palantine Hill, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps.

Austria

Well, I will have to put pictures in when I get some from my parents. Our camera's battery died right after we left the hotel to go to the Schonbrunn palace. The Schonbrunn palace was the summer home for the Hapsburg royal family. It was an enormous palace and had many attractions including a tour of the palace, an apple struddel making demonstration (including a sample), a garden maze, amazing gardens, a gloriette overlooking the grounds, and many other statues and fountains. For our one day stop in Vienna it was a great place to visit.

Home for a Visit

After Jared and Meghan's wedding I went home with my parents to Washington. I enjoyed being home for the GORGEOUS Washington weather, a trip to the Woodland Park zoo, visiting with friends, eating at all of my favorite restaurants, golfing at the Chambers Bay Golf Course, and most importantly spending time with some family. However, I did miss my Mark and I was excited to get back home to Henderson when the time came.

Jared and Meghan were married June 21, 2008 at the Testarossa Vineyards in Los Gatos, California. We had a great time going to the rehearsal dinner, hanging out with family, and most importantly going to the wedding. Congratulations Jared and Meghan. Welcome, officially, to the family MegBeast!

We went to California for Meghan's bridal shower who was then Jared's fiancee and is now his wife. More pictures of the wedding to come. We had a good time going and picking out Meghan's presents and Jennifer found a ring, Jason take note, that she would like someday. Heather is letting all eligible bachelors know what she wants from the get go! Just kidding.

Second Year Anniversary

This year instead of going out for dinner Mark and I stayed in. I still wanted to do something fun and different so I made pork ribs in our crockpot. I think they turned out pretty good if I don't say so myself.
